On January 1, 2026, the Golden Corner Food Pantry will welcome Mike Manning as Chair of the volunteer Board of Directors. Mike has served the Pantry as Treasurer for the past two years, and he brings many years of valuable experience to his new role as Chair.
Mike retired in 2024 as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and has held numerous positions in the areas of finance and accounting, management and human resources. In 2016, he received the Charlotte Business Journal’s award for Outstanding Chief Financial Officer of the Year in the non-profit sector. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from Queen’s University.
Mike and his wife, Sharon, have owned property in Oconee County since 2012, and are happy to be full-time residents now. They started volunteering at the pantry together, but it was Sharon who suggested that her husband would make a great treasurer!
Joining Mike in a leadership role at the Pantry is our new Treasurer, Joe Brydon. A proud alumnus of Auburn University, Joe is a Certified Public Accountant with nearly 40 years of professional experience. Joe and his wife Juliana relocated to our area from South Florida several years ago, and Juliana began volunteering at the Golden Corner Food Pantry, Shortly after that, she recruited Joe as a volunteer, too. In his spare time, Joe enjoys fishing, boating, hiking and reading.
The Golden Corner Food Pantry is the largest food pantry in Oconee County, serving approximately 1200 households per month. The Pantry opened its doors more than 40 years ago and 97 cents of every dollar goes directly to the delivery of food to our county neighbors. With more than 250+ volunteers giving more than 30,000 hours of time each year, the Pantry is proud of its record of serving the community while being responsible stewards of the financial resources contributed by our donors. With Mike Manning, Joe Brydon and the rest of the volunteer Board of Directors, the Pantry is well-positioned to continue this excellent record of serving the Oconee County community.
