Facility Manager Corner
“Doctor” Tom Fuss
He’s really not a doctor, but the Food Pantry is blessed with a guy who works tirelessly to improve efficiency, safety, working conditions, traffic control, storage facilities and replacement of worn out equipment.
2014 projects focused on shelving and conveyors to improve packing and streamline workflow. A major project to replace and upgrade all exterior doors was completed. Traffic safety was improved with installation of rubber parking stops, speed bumps, mirrors and bollard sleeves on all posts.
In 2015 Tom used grant funds to purchase a new electric lift truck and an electric pallet jack. Both have made a step change improvement in our material handling capability and safety. Office modifications were completed which streamlined our ability to help clients access our Make Life Better program.
In 2016 Tom has continued his work on improving safety, appearance and efficiency at the Food Pantry. The project to relocate the walk-in freezer/cooler outside the building will reduce electricity cost and extend compressor life. The camera surveillance project is now complete and will improve security and safety. Also repainting of lobby, offices, restrooms is underway including resurfacing of concrete floors.
Hats off to “Doctor” Tom for helping make the Golden Corner Food Pantry the best it can be.
